Four Freestate Teams Crowned US Club Regional Champions
Will participate in US Club Nationals
The U-12B Strikers and U-13B Diplomats were crowned US Club Regional Champions and have advanced to the National Cup Tournament. The tournament is July 30 - August 2 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

On the girls’ side, the U-12 Fury and U-13 Storm were also crowned US Club Regional Champions. The girls’ tournment is July 24-27 also in Virginia Beach.

Summer 4v4 Scrimmage Program
June 30 - July 28, 2010
Freestate’s summer 4v4 scrimmage program will started Wednesday, June 30 and continues every Wednesday and Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 pm on the Mitchellville Road Soccer Complex, 3200 Mitchellville Road. Scrimmages will be on fields 2, 4 and 5. The last session will be on Wednesday July 28, 2010. All U-8 through U-14 players are welcome.

Former Freestate Shooters to Play in U-20 Women's World Cup
Nairn and McCarty Named to Roster
Former Freestate Shooters Christine Nairn and Tiffany McCarty have been named to the U20 Women’s National Team and will compete in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Matches are scheduled to begin July 14 and continue through August 1. Follow their progress at the U20 Women’s National Team site. Good luck Christine and Tiffany!

Freestate Joins Atlantic Soccer League
Atlantic Soccer League president, Dewan Bader, has announced that a new boy’s regional league sanctioned by US Club Soccer will begin play in November 2010. The ASL has announced an initial acceptance of 9 high profile clubs and will select up to 16 to participate in its inaugural season of play. Serving U15, U16, U17 and U18 teams from clubs up and down the East Coast the ASL promises to provide top level competition, facilities and exposure for college bound players from elite level clubs.

Congratulations to Lindsey Lane (Elite 94) on being selected to the Under 15 Girls’ National Team 24-player roster for the Team’s Domestic Training Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. Freestate Sisters To Play in U17 Women's World Cup
Amira and Nia Walcott to Play for Trinidad and Tobago
 
U16 Freestate Fury player Amira Walcott (left) and U17 Freestate United player Nia Walcott (right) have been selected for the U17 Trinidad & Tobago National Team. Not only have the sisters been selected to represent their county, Trinidad & Tobago are hosting the U17 tournament this year. The tournament will be held September 5-25. Albert Oni Named Girls Soccer Coach of the Year by Baltimore Sun
Freestate Red Devils Coach Albert Oni Honored
Albert Oni, head coach of the Varsity girls team at Mercy High School in Baltimore, Maryland has been named Girls Soccer Coach of the Year by the Baltimore Sun. Oni, in his eighth season at Mercy, was forced to make adjustments from start to finish, guiding the No. 2 Magic to a 12-5-3 season. Read more about Coach Oni’s honor on the Baltimore Sun Web site. Freestate Players Named to 2009 NSCAA/adidas Girls’ High School Scholar All-America Team
Lyndse Hokanson, Samantha Norman and Johanna Rambo Receive Honors
Freestate Phoenix (U18) players Lyndse Hokanson (South River High School, Edgewater) and Samantha Norman (Broadneck High School, Annapolis) and Freestate Hornets player, Johanna Rambo (Leonardtown High School, Hollywood) were named to the 2009 NSCAA/adidas Girls’ High School Scholar All-America Team. Hokanson is a goalkeeper, Norman a defender and Rambo a forward. The NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America selections will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, held in Philadelphia, Pa., on Jan. 16 as part of the 2010 NSCAA Convention. Hokanson has made a verbal commitment to attend George Mason University. View the full list of NSCAA award winners.

U12 Strikers Earn Bethesda Tournament Championship
The U12 Strikers won the Bethesda Tournament, Nov. 21-22. The Strikers won four consecutive games beating the MSC Green Falcons, Upper 90 Delmarva Mustangs and the Seneca Dragons III to make it to the final match. They played a great fourth game beating Leigh United for the championship. Congratulations Strikers! Great way to end the year!

Freestate Wolverines 96 to Represent Maryland in 2010 US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup
The Freestate Wolverines have been invited to represent Maryland in the 2010 US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup! The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to US Youth Soccer teams from the state to regional to national level. The Presidents Cup gives players an additional opportunity to compete against teams from across the country at a high level for the joy and the challenge of the game. It provides the chance to experience a unique US Youth Soccer event with camaraderie, community and competition through sport. This year, Regionals will be held on Memorial Day weekend, May 9 – 31, 2010 at the Clifton Park Soccer Club in Saratoga Springs, New York. Nationals will be played July 8 – 11, 2010. Tiffany McCarty Named ACC Offensive Player of the Year
Former Freestate Shooters Player Adds New Honor to Resume
Greensboro, NC., Nov. 3, 2009—Former Freestate Shooters player, Tiffany McCarty was named ACC Offensive Player of the year after an outstanding sophomore campaign at Florida State University. Tiffany, who was named the 2008 ACC Freshman of the Year, is already the all-time career holder at Florida State with 31 points in ACC games, while she is tied for the school record with 12 goals and second in assists with seven.

Christine Nairn and U20 US Women's National Team are World Cup Champions

Congratulations to the USA U20 Women’s National Team and former Freestate Shooters player Christine Nairn on winning the U20 World Cup!!! Christine assisted on two goals in the 3-0 win in the quarter-final game versus England, and earned consecutive starts for both the semi-final 1-0 victory over Germany and 2-1 victory in the final versus Korea. Christine saw action in all six matches starting in four that the team played.
Christine Nairn represented the U20 Women’s US National Team in their quest to become World Cup Champions in Chilie, Nov. 19 - Dec. 7. It is a great honor for Freestate Soccer Alliance to have Christine represent the USA. Christine Nairn scores winning goal for US National Team
CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 22, 2009) - Christine Nairn, the youngest player on the U.S. roster at 18-years-old, scored a dramatic winning goal in the 89th minute as the U.S. Women’s National Team defeated Canada, 1- 0, on a humid night at Blackbaud Stadium.
Nairn entered the game in the 81st minute to earn just her second career cap and tallied on a wild scramble in front of the Canadian net.
